Search engines provide very quick and
easy access to information on the World Wide Web. They have differences in
their methods of searching and areas of specialisation. Google, our chosen search engine,
is a powerful search engine that generally beats other search engines for speed and
accuracy, and is excellent for general searches.
This version has been set up to provide a site search for
anything here on the QuakerWeb
site; one of the two main Quaker sites in
the UK and USA; or the entire World Wide Web. In addition, it also supports
specialised searching based on the selection of options, as follows:-
- Advanced
Search. Perform more careful searches using filters such as 'and',
'or', 'except', and more.
- Preferences.
Set your own options such as language or number of results.
- Directory.
Browse the internet by using subject categories and topics.
Finally, other search engines you may also find particularly
useful include
AltaVista, Ixquick
and Xrefer.
