QuakerWeb
is a
dedicated professional internet service for
Quaker
groups and organisations that is totally FREE for users.
Combining sophisticated internet technology with an easy and
flexible service, free from setup charges or annual fees, we aim
to provide a 'professional' internet presence that reflects
Friend's technical, financial and ethical considerations. There
is no obligation to use the services as they are simply an
additional option for Friends to consider using.
We offer free
hosting of your domain (or you can use our free sub-domain);
free space for your website, free email addresses and free
forwarding services, as well as free built-in scripts.
But what is meant
by 'free'? These
days the word 'free' seems to be used by most companies
simply to hide the word 'PAY'. For example; 'Free -
with every purchase of our product or service' or ''Free -
when you carry our advertising?'
Should you be forced to buy something just to get
something free? Should you be forced to have your 'free' web pages or emails
carry advertising you don't want, promoting products
or ideas you don't like? QuakerWeb
doesn't believe you should. 'Free' should mean free from any
costs, commercialism, propaganda, infact, free from any
catches.
So, in 'plain
speak', there are no setup charges or annual hosting fees; no ads or
banners on your webpages; no contractual strings or catches;
no ifs and no buts.
If you think
you'd like to try the service, just contact us directly. On the
other hand, if you know of Quaker organisations and groups that
might be interested, we'd be grateful if you could pass this
information on to them.
Thank you for
your interest and support.
P.S.
It may be worth mentioning that our satisfaction in offering this service
is derived from knowing that this service is helping F/friends
seeking a suitable solution to their internet requirements. We prefer to encourage
F/friends and Quaker organisations to provide additional and
complementary services
in order to
increase the overall variety of services available to F/friends
on the internet. However, if additional
services are requested by F/friends, then, as
long as these are not already easily available elsewhere, we will
endeavour to fulfill these requests.
